The
Beggar
In the small village of Venice,
there lived a janitor named Romel. He was happy long before. He was contented
with his life and he loved his job more than anything else since he was living
alone. Everything seemed heavens for him until something happened.
One day, while cleaning up the
streets, Romel came by a trash can. He had not seen such a trash can before for
it was made of gold. Delighted as he was, he decided to bring it home. While he
was preparing for dinner, he heard some noise from the trash can and to his
surprise, he saw a man and a woman inside it but he was frightened at first to
see them small. So, Romel took out the little persons from the trash can and a
s soon as they were out, these little beings grew bigger up to the size of a
human. Romel almost fainted but he held control of himself and he decided to
talk to such visitors. He then asked the creatures of their names and what have
they become that they got into the magical trash can. He found out that the
creatures were the famous and richest princess of Oriendale, Princess Malou and
that the man was the poorest beggar in Venice and he was old JV.
Princess Malou started telling Romel
their fairytale-love story and how they live in a castle inside the trash can.
Romel did not know that these two were psychotic so he believed everything that
she said to him. He envied their love story and he wished he too could have
one. He then meditated for a plan. While meditating, he came up with a plot of
murdering JV to have Princess Malou and succeed in the plan of getting rich.
He then asked Princess Malou and JV
to bring him to their palace and see for himself the beauty of their kingdom.
The two, without knowing Romel’s plan, permitted. On that day, Romel locked up
all doors in his house and spread gas all over the place and when they were
ready to get into the trash can, Romel worked out his plan. He requested JV to
come back to his room and get the broom for them to ride on in the trash can.
On the other hand, Romel commanded Princess Malou to go ahead inside the trash
can and wait for them there. Crazy as she was, she followed him. Romel also
walked after JV and locked him in the room.
JV at first shouted for help but s
few minutes passed he was heard laughing loud. Romel now realized that JV was a
mad man. So he hurried to the trash can while throwing a lighted candle on the
floor and the place was on fire.
The princess was happy to see Romel
but as soon as she found out that her loved one was not with them, she cried
and shouted loudly. Romel tried to drive her attention to their destination but
he could not help her stop shouting. As soon as she shouted, the genie inside
the trash can appeared before her and Romel. The genie asked her what had
happened and she told him in details but Romel could never understand since
they spoke in a language only they could understand.
With the genie’s pity upon the
lover, he threw Romel up the trash can into his own house and the Titans and
Spartans also started coming out. Because the Titans and Spartans were not used
to such environment, they all died eventually but Romel survived. He pleaded to
the genie but the genie could not help his anger for oppressing such a mad man
and woman who lived peacefully in their kingdom by the trash can. He took very
little pity at Romel so he decided not to kill him but turned him into a mad
man. On the other hand, he turned Princess into a normal person. So, she came
out of the trash can and find for JV but she found him dead. Tears fell from her
eyes to see her lover die and as soon as these tears reached his mouth, he has
regained life. JV turned to be a prince and the house on fire turned to be a
great palace.
The two could have lived happily
ever after but there came a day when a beggar came by the palace and knocked.
It was Romel.
